The mission of Sto:lo Aboriginal Skills & Employment Training (SASET) is to increase First Nation and Inuit participation in employment and training opportunities to create a sustainable future of self-governing citizens. The organization serves Aboriginal people residing in the SASET catchment area, regardless of whether they reside on/off reserve or in an urban community and irrespective of their place of origin, serving First Nations status, non-status and Inuit individuals. The catchment area extends from Surrey to Boston Bar and Lil’wat, N’Quatqua, just past Pemberton, and three isolated communities of Samahquam, Skatin, and Xa’xtsa. SASET operates under a funding contribution agreement with Service Canada and the Province of British Columbia.
The organization’s certified employment counselors work throughout the catchment area, providing a variety of services and support, including essential skills assessment and development, career decision making, employability skills training, short-and long-term transition to work support, vocational training support, job search, labour market information, resume and interview skills development, and more.
